NORTH TEXAS NURSE PRACTITIONERS-METROPLEX WEST


ARTICLE I: Name

The name of this organization shall be North Texas Nurse
Practitioners/Metroplex West, hereinafter referred to as NTNP/MW.

ARTICLE II: Purpose

The purpose of NTNP/MW shall be to provide a forum in the local area for networking, support, and education of nurses in advanced roles or preparing themselves for practice in advanced roles.

ARTICLE III: Membership

The regular members of NTNP/MW shall be comprised of registered nurses in advanced roles or preparing themselves for advanced roles, who pay dues, may vote, and hold office.
Associate members are those individuals or groups who are interested in promoting the role of advanced practice nurses. Associate members shall pay dues and may have voice through their service on committees and in non-elected positions. They may not vote.

ARTICLE IV: Annual Dues

Annual dues shall be established by the Executive Committee with the approval of the membership.
Membership dues must be paid annually. Membership is annual from January 1 – December 31.
Only regular paid members shall have the privilege of voting, serving in office, or running for office.

ARTICLE V: Officers

Elections shall be held yearly at the membership meeting.
The elected officers of NTNP/MW shall be: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The president shall be elected in even years, lead the executive committee, and preside at membership meetings. The president should have served on the executive committee prior to election.
The vice-president shall be elected in odd years and functions as president in the president’s absence.
The secretary shall be elected in even years and keep minutes of business and membership meetings. All such minutes shall be made available for executive committee review/approval. The secretary shall maintain official documents and files of NTNP/MW as well as the official list of members.
The treasurer shall be elected in odd years, receive funds of NTNP/MW, deposit such funds in the NTNP/MW bank account and disperse funds for payment of expenses. Approval of expense shall be determined by a quorum
of the executive committee. Periodic audits shall be required for which the executive committee shall give the treasurer a minimum of one (1) month’s notice.
Newly elected officers shall review an orientation to the office from the outgoing officer.
Succession to the presidency shall be (in order) vice-president, then secretary and then treasurer.

ARTICLE VI: Membership Meetings

Meetings of membership shall be monthly and at other times as coordinated.
All business, except that specifically designated in by-laws, shall be decided by a majority vote of all voting members present at membership meetings.
Roberts’ Rules of Order shall govern business at meetings.

ARTICLE VII: Appointed Officers/Standing Committees

All appointed officers or standing committees shall maintain liaison with the executive committee.
Programs Officer (Committee) shall coordinate speakers for monthly meetings.
Membership Officer (Committee) shall seek to enlarge the membership roles.
Publicity Officer (Committee) shall seek to secure positive publicity for nurse practitioners and other advanced practice nurses in all forms of media.
